Sorority Involvement

Throughout my collegiate journey, I have had the privilege of assuming leadership roles within my sorority, offering invaluable insights and cultivating essential skills in patience, positive leadership, empathy, and time management. These roles all required the leadership of groups of women, requiring a balance between strong decision making while fostering an environment of approachability and cooperation. This experience has provided me with a profound understanding of the art of leadership.

During my junior year, I was entrusted with the pivotal role of Vice President Membership, a position seated on our executive council. In this capacity, I assumed responsibility for guiding the Executive Recruitment Board and overseeing the entirety of the recruitment process. Notably, this appointment presented the unique challenge of leading individuals older than myself, an experience that proved to be one of the most demanding and transformative episodes of my college career. It instilled in me a great appreciation for leadership while emphasizing the significance of respecting those who hold leadership positions.

In my current role as the New Member Director of Events, I have had the privilege of orchestrating a multitude of chapter-wide events. This experience has ignited a newfound passion for event planning and a deep appreciation for the meticulous attention to detail it entails. These experiences within my sorority have not only honed my leadership capabilities but have also unveiled a keen interest in event management and its intricate facets.

Campus Involvement

Active involvement in the Student Government Association (SGA) has played a pivotal role in my personal and professional growth. My engagement began my freshman year as a member of the First Year Leadership Association, during which I had the privilege of interning under the External Vice President. This invaluable experience enabled me to gain insights into SGA's communication strategies and develop relationships with external stakeholders.

During my sophomore and junior years, I was elected by the student body to serve as a College of Media and Communications Student Senator. In this capacity, I actively participated in bi-weekly student senate sessions, conducted surveys among COMC students to assess their needs, preferences, and concerns, and contributed to the formulation of legislation aligned with the desires of our constituents. Collaboration on legislation aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Texas Tech students was a significant aspect of this role.

I was appointed by the Student Body President to assume the position of Director of Digital Media and Public Relations this past spring. This role has offered me a unique opportunity to expand my skill set in internal communications, mirroring elements of corporate communication practices. While I am primarily responsible for disseminating information to the student body regarding upcoming events and critical updates, a substantial portion of my responsibilities entails coordinating events within SGA, maintaining awareness of activities across all branches, and proactively averting potential internal crises.

My involvement in SGA has not only broadened my understanding of effective communication but has also deepened my appreciation for the importance of cohesive internal operations in achieving organizational goals.
